Local Registered Nurse Susie Barksdale accepts position

TRINITY – Following an in-depth search, Trinity Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center has named Susie Barksdale, RN as Director of Nursing. Barksdale brings an impressive background in nursing and patient care to the Trinity RHC Team. She earned her Registered Nurse license from Angelina College in 1989 and began her career at Huntsville Memorial Hospital in the Emergency Department and as a staff educator and instructor for the facility.

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to be part of such a progressive and forward-thinking company as Trinity RHC, one that is large enough to provide exceptional quality care, yet small enough to care,” Barksdale said.

While serving as nurse manager of the Park Plaza Hospital 62-bed HIV unit she attended five international conferences on AIDS, making presentations at conference in The Netherlands, Italy and Germany. She has held certifications in Infusion, Oncology, Advanced Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Trauma Nurse Core.

“We feel that Ms. Barksdale brings a level of professionalism and expertise to the position that will continue to elevate the care and services our Team provides to residents to our gold standard setting policies,” said Trinity Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center owner and Pillar Stone Healthcare Company CEO, Darcy Whatley.

Whatley added, “We are already recognized for setting industry standards with our implementation of the fragrance-free workplace, electronic medical record, and automated pharmacy dispensing system. We will continue the trend of setting the industry standards bar even higher with new innovative programs, such as telemedicine, we have planned that Ms. Barksdale will oversee.”

Trinity RHC Administrator, Joe Butler said he looks forward to the positive changes that Trinity RHC will make to continue their efforts to improve industry standards in long term care.

Whatley concluded by saying, “Our objective is to be the preferred healthcare provider of choice for seniors in each of our facility’s surrounding communities and meeting the needs of the local area helps us achieve that objective.”
